The Bahco P16-60 Bypass Loppers are intended to cut live wood. The loppers are commonly used for pruning and training all sorts of vines. This 24" long Bypass Lopper's cutting blade slides past a forged counterblade in a scissor action, and therefore the term "bypass" is evident. The pivot bolt is offset from the lopper's natural centerline. This design allows a slicing motion during the cutting, and aids in the pruning of live wood and spreads wear over a large area of the blade for a longer life.
The hook shape of the counterblade on the lopper permits a larger cutting diameter and holds the branch steady during cutting. The sap groove is a recess that lessens the contact area between the counterblade and the blade and this results in much less sticking.
